HAYS COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) — Multiple Hays Consolidated Independent School District students have died due to accidental opioid overdoses over the last few years.In May, Hays CISD said in an email to parents that six students have died due to suspected fentanyl overdoses since summer 2022. The program includes educational material that will be delivered to parents and students electronically. Weeks after recreational marijuana became legal statewide, the St. Paul City Council is planning to approve new rules limiting where residents may smoke.A public hearing on Wednesday drew strong opinions on all sides, with anti-smoking advocates urging the council not to back down from efforts to keep second-hand smoke of any kind out of public places enjoyed by children and families. COHOES, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- On Wednesday, a man accused of stabbing a victim multiple times pleaded guilty to three charges in the Schenectady County Court. In exchange for his plea, James Steele, 48, of Cohoes, will receive a minimum sentence of 8 years incarceration. Get the latest news, weather, sports and entertainment delivered right to your inbox! The indictment alleges that Steele was involved in a fistfight at a city corner store on October 20, 2022. Steele then used a knife to repeatedly stab the victim. The victim was treated at the Ellis Hospital.Video surveillance captured footage of the stabbing. Steele was charged with assault in the first degree, assault in the second degree, and criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree.Sentencing is scheduled for November 15 in Schenectady County Court. GREEN ISLAND, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- On August 26, two anglers were ticketed for possessing undersized blue claw crabs. ECO Bevis noticed the anglers during a late-night patrol using a net to catch the crabs in a restricted area of the Hudson River. ECO Bevis also discovered that the registration on the vehicle the anglers used was suspended. GLENVILLE, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Glenville Police Department responded to a bridge strike at Maple Avenue on Thursday morning. Police located a 2019 Freightliner with the entire roof torn off. The driver, Kawon Jones, 31, of Hephzibah, Georgia, told police he was attempting to travel to Vermont and was following his GPS. Police conducted a full DOT inspection and issued 9 tickets for violations. GLENVILLE, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Glenridge Road bridge has been struck again. According to the Glenville Police Department, a 2018 Kenworth delivery truck hit the bridge on Wednesday afternoon. TROY, Ill. – Police in Troy, Illinois, are investigating a homicide involving a 60-year-old woman. The victim was identified as Norma Caraker Thursday.Police were asked to perform a wellness check around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday at a residence in the 600 block of Lower Marine Road and discovered the victim's body. JEFFERSON COUNTY -- Missouri State Highway Patrol was called onto the scene for a fatal hit-and-run at northbound Missouri Route B., south of Simpson Hill Drive, on September 13 around 6:35 p.m. Girl’s path to school: speeding cars, sex offenders, dangerous crosswalk A 2009 Ford Fusion was traveling northbound on Route B, and Ann A. Radeackar, 69, was driving her 2012 Mini Cooper Clubman southbound on Route B. Radeackar attempted to turn into a private driveway and cut into the path of the Ford Fusion.
